Former lightweight champion, Salimu Chazama, has promised an impressive start to his career with Legacy Boxing Promotions this weekend.<\/p>\n
Chazama will take on Tanzanian boxer, Donald Oscar, in an eight-round non-title fight at M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
Initially Chazama, a Malawi Defence Force boxer, was expected to take on compatriot, Hadjson Mkoka, but Zama Boxing Promotions changed his opponent due to technical reasons.<\/p>\n
Chazama has a tight schedule as he will also vie for a lightweight title rematch against Tanzanian Allan Kamote.<\/p>\n
\u201cI take each fight seriously. I promise to give my fans what they want. I will beat this guy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Chazama also said he wanted to impress his new promoter, Jason Bowler, of Legacy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis means that I have to fight my lungs out. This is the moment to show my boss what sort of stuff I am made of,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Chazama has in 25 bouts, won 19, lost four and drawn twice whereas the Tanzanian has eight wins, three defeats and a draw.<\/p>\n
In the main supporting fight, Ruth Chisale will take on Zambian, Ashe Ndengere, in a six-round non-title fight.<\/p>\n
Chisale has since vowed to maintain her perfect record.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just have to win at all cost. I have had fantastic preparations,\u201d said the boxer who has never lost in seven fights.<\/p>\n
Ndengere has four wins, including two knockouts, five defeats and two draws.<\/p>\n
