The rescheduled game will be played on Saturday.

In a written response, Mgulaimfa claimed that Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Organising Committee’s verdict was biased, adding that the association had Civo Stadium in mind.

“After we won [the] Moyale game, a Fam official [name withheld] called asking me to accept playing Bullets at Civo in Lilongwe, saying we should make money, a matter [which] I referred to the chairman of Mafco FC and the whole management of the team. We spent one week arguing with them that our home is Chitowe,” Mgulaimfa said.

“The verdict is just a biased opinion from Fam because they had Civo already in their minds. We are ready to play the match anywhere but after the truth is told.”

Gulaimfa has since threatened to obtain a court injunction against his ban. Fam also banned Mafco top striker, Richard Mbulu, for the rest of the season.

Bullets General Secretary, Kelvin Moyo, yesterday said his club was happy with the verdict despite that reserve goalkeeper Chimwemwe Kumkwawa was found on the wrong side of the law.

He also dismissed Mafco’s claims, saying Fam’s report was self-explanatory on what happened.

“It is a wake-up call to all local clubs that we need to behave. I think the verdict will bring sanity into the local football,” he said.

Fam Competitions’ Organising Committee chairperson, Jabba Alide, said they were empowered by the competition’s rules and regulations to decide on venues.

Both teams have been found guilty of failing to control their players.

Mafco have been fined K1, 250,000 and K150,000 for Bullets.

Mafco defender, Paul Ndlovu, and midfielder, Stain Malata, were suspended for a combined six games in all competitions whereas Kunkwawa, received a three-game suspension.

“Fam will ensure that there is tight security at the match. The teams concerned are reminded about the fulfilment of their responsibilities as per rules and regulations of the competition,” reads the verdict.

The winner between Mafco and Bullets will face Silver Strikers in the semi-finals whereas Be Forward Wanderers host Mangochi Police.

Meanwhile, Fam Competitions’ Organising Committee has fined Be Forward Wanderers K300, 000 and Prison United K150,000 for failing to control their fans during last Saturday’s Carlsberg Cup quarterfinal clash at Balaka Stadium.

Trouble ensued at the stadium when United’s fans reportedly stood behind Wanderers’ technical panel bench while allegedly showering insults at them.

“The Committee noted that much as the actions of Prison United supporters were unacceptable, the situation was exacerbated by the actions of the above Wanderers officials resulting into the fight,” reads part of the press release.

“The Committee noted that the two Match Coordinators were largely available at the venue to resolve the situation but Wanderers officials resorted to use their own means of resolving the situation by going to confront the Prison United supporters.”

The match was stopped as the Nomads tried to negotiate for the swapping of the benches. Violence flared and the game was stopped for some minutes before the police moved in to quell the situation.

Mafco FC have made sensational claims that Nyasa Big Bullets players messed up things deliberately at Chitowe Stadium last Friday to bulldoze Football Association of Malawi (Fam) into rescheduling the Carlsberg Cup quarterfinal match to another venue.
