{"id":30184,"date":"2016-08-18T10:07:22","date_gmt":"2016-08-18T08:07:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=30184"},"modified":"2016-08-18T10:07:22","modified_gmt":"2016-08-18T08:07:22","slug":"charles-manda-named-civo-united-acting-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/08\/18\/charles-manda-named-civo-united-acting-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Charles Manda named Civo United acting coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>T<\/strong>NM Super League side, Civo United, have refused to confirm the sacking of head coach, Milias Pofera, claiming that he was still in-charge of the team.<\/p>\n<p>But the Lilongwe club has since named Technical Director, Charles Manda, as the interim head coach.<\/p>\n<p>Civo Vice-General Secretary, Ronald Chiwaula, confirmed yesterday the appointment of Manda, saying the club was waiting for the sponsor, the Office of the President and Cabinet, to decide on the future of the former Dedza Young Soccer coach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is true that Manda will be in charge of the team until the sponsor makes a decision. We submitted our recommendation to the sponsor and they are still assessing it,\u201d Chiwaula said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Chiwaula, the former Dedza gaffer signed a performance-based two-year contract.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr Jegwe [Pofera] is aware that his contract is based on the performance of the team but, as I have already indicated, he is still the coach of Civo,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n<p>Pofera yesterday said that he was committed to finishing the remainder of his contract at Civo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am employed as a Civo coach and I am ready to continue working with the team,\u201d Pofera said.<\/p>\n<p>Despite failing to keep Dedza in the TNM Super League, Pofera was one of the most sought-after coaches as he was linked with giants Be Forward Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets.<\/p>\n<p>Civo endured a miserable campaign in the first round of the TNM Super League having collected 16 points from 15 games. They are 11th on the log table, just five points above the drop zone.<\/p>\n<p>In the first round, Civo chalked four wins, four draws and seven losses.
