{"id":30120,"date":"2016-08-17T14:00:42","date_gmt":"2016-08-17T12:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=30120"},"modified":"2016-08-17T14:00:43","modified_gmt":"2016-08-17T12:00:43","slug":"k239-million-for-first-round","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/08\/17\/k239-million-for-first-round\/","title":{"rendered":"K239 million for first round"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite some challenges in gate management, the TNM Super League first round grossed K239,139,089.85 in gate revenue, representing a 25 percent jump from last year\u2019s proceeds at the same stage.<\/p>\n<p>At a similar stage last year, the league grossed K192 million.<\/p>\n<p>Super League of Malawi (Sulom) Treasurer, Tiya Somba-Banda, released the figures yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>After 120 games in the first round, the 16 teams shared K91,306,846 (38 percent of gross revenue) whereas Sulom and Football Association of Malawi (Fam) received K18, 251,151 each.<\/p>\n<p>Ground levy of the first round was K45,653,23.22 whereas Sports Council pocketed K9, 130,821.21.<\/p>\n<p>Other stakeholders such the Police, Stewards and cashiers earned K56,512 million (24 percent of the gross collections).<\/p>\n<p>As usual, crowd pullers, Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers, are top earners having pocketed K22, 181, 205. 22 and K18, 963, 709, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Silver Strikers earned K8, 741,370.31 followed by Blue Eagles K5, 018, 142.42.<\/p>\n<p>Rookies Max Bullets, Karonga United and Dwangwa United pocketed K1,875,191.52, K2,089,948.94 and K2,578, 723.85, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Somba-Banda described the revenue as encouraging despite missing the league\u2019s target by K12 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that we will still hit the K500 million mark as teams such as Silver, Eagles and Mzuni FC will surely pull crowds in the second round,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Bullets Vice-Chairperson, Austin Kasito, was satisfied with the first round proceeds, saying Sulom had done an admirable job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt just shows that Bullets have a large following. As Bullets, we also commend Sulom for doing a good job interms of gate management in the first round,\u201d Kasito said.<\/p>\n<p>Wanderers Vice-Treasurer, Chulu Mkangama, said the club was assessing the figures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter that we will make an assessment from Wanderers\u2019 point of view and its implications. In some games, there was complacency for example, the<\/p>\n<p>Mzuni game there was a lot of pilferage, how can we get only K660,000?
