{"id":2962,"date":"2015-05-25T07:52:56","date_gmt":"2015-05-25T07:52:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=2962"},"modified":"2015-05-25T07:52:56","modified_gmt":"2015-05-25T07:52:56","slug":"7-pass-fide-exams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/05\/25\/7-pass-fide-exams\/","title":{"rendered":"7 pass Fide exams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Even local arbiters have passed Fide Arbirters examinations that were held last month during the Zone 4.3 Southern Africa chess championship.<\/p>\n<p>Chess Association of Malawi (Chessam) president, Kezzie Msukwa, announced that a total of 12 individuals from Southern Africa, including seven Malawians passed the Fide Arbiters examinations. The examinations were conducted following the Arbiters Seminar that took place concurrently with the Zone 4.3 Chess Championship that took place at Shire Highlands Hotel last month.<\/p>\n<p>Msukwa said there was a 100 percent record performance by the Malawi candidates who sat for the examinations.<\/p>\n<p>Leornard Mbwana, Magret Ngugama, Peter Jailosi, Makhosi Nyirenda, Kennedy Gondwe, Martin Mhango and Isaac Mumba passed with flying colours.<\/p>\n<p>Others that passed the examinations include Zambians Daniel Jere, Gift Bwalya, Rose Zeko, Phillip Nshinkokola and Rodger Tiroyamodiwa from Botswana<\/p>\n<p>However, Msukwa said the individuals will have to wait for Fide Board to approve their titles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey will either be awarded the Fide Arbiter title right away or they may be given a norm depending on score and arbitration experience,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Msukwa also said this will raise the standards of chess in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHigh level chess officiation is essential to raise the standards of chess in the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Before these results, Malawi had only three qualified Fide Arbiters in Gilton Mkumbwa, Paul Nyirenda and Msukwa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Even local arbiters have passed Fide Arbirters examinations that were held last month during the Zone 4.3 Southern Africa chess championship.
