Former Malawi National Football Team skipper, Patrick Mabedi, has, a long side Derklerk Msakakuona of Blue Eagles, been appointed as the Flames\u2019 interim assistant co-coaches to Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan.<\/p>\n
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Technical and Youth sub-committee made recommendations on the coaches, and the association\u2019s Executive Committee meeting, held on Saturday, endorsed the decision.<\/p>\n
Fam General Secretary, Suzgo Nyirenda, confirmed on Sunday that Mabedi and Msakakuona have been hired to work with Ramadhan in the Flames\u2019 academic 2017 Africa Cup of Nations home qualifier against Swaziland in the first week of September.<\/p>\n
Nyirenda further confirmed that Clement Kafwafwa and Swadick Sanudi have been retained as Team Manager and Goalkeeper Coach, respectively. The duo worked under Ernest Mtawali whose tenure expired on July 31.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is the coach who has decided on his assistants. There is also a recommendation for a dietician Dr Ali and psychologist Dr Mark Tembo. The coach will be signed on a one-month contract from August 10,\u201d Nyirenda said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter the game against Swaziland, Fam\u2019s Technical and Youth Sub-committee will meet to decide on the process of selecting a permanent coach for the Flames.\u201d<\/p>\n
Overall, Fam has launched Vision 2026 Campaign aimed at ensuring that the Flames qualify for that year\u2019s Fifa World Cup finals.<\/p>\n
Under the campaign, Fam will maintain the Under-17 National Team alongside Under-15 and Under-20 with all the teams earmarked for overseas camp training and participation in continental and regional competitions.<\/p>\n
Speaking in an interview from South Africa on Sunday, Mabedi said he was humbled to be considered for the Flames role, which he, alongside Mtawali, also held in 2013 under the then interim coach Eddingtone Ng\u2019onamo.<\/p>\n
