{"id":29408,"date":"2016-08-04T11:51:29","date_gmt":"2016-08-04T09:51:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=29408"},"modified":"2016-08-04T11:52:41","modified_gmt":"2016-08-04T09:52:41","slug":"china-sends-experts-to-central-hospitals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/08\/04\/china-sends-experts-to-central-hospitals\/","title":{"rendered":"China sends experts to central hospitals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>China has sent four medical teams comprising 16 members each to work for Kamuzu and Mzuzu Central hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese doctors have been deployed to conduct surgeries to 300 cataract patients to help them regain sight.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese Ambassador to Malawi, Shi-Ting Wang, said the cooperation between the two countries in various fields has sustained smooth and rapid growth, bringing tangible benefits to the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHealth and people welfare is on top agenda of the China-Malawi relations,\u201d said Shi-Ting.<\/p>\n<p>The medical team was unveiled to the Minister of Health, Peter Kumpalume, at Capital Hill in Lilongwe during a donation of assorted medical equipment meant for Kamuzu Central Hospital worth K35 million from the Chinese Embassy.<\/p>\n<p>Shi-Ting said he believes that the medical equipment would go a long way in alleviating the equipment short-fall in the public hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>Kumpalume, while commending China for the donation, said his ministry is facing challenges, particularly inadequate medical experts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very grateful for medical personnel and equipment that you sent to us, but I don\u2019t want to hear that three months from now, the equipment is not installed and the ministry will make sure that it is put to good use,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>China has sent four medical teams comprising 16 members each to work for Kamuzu and Mzuzu Central hospitals.
