{"id":29284,"date":"2016-08-03T10:48:30","date_gmt":"2016-08-03T08:48:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=29284"},"modified":"2016-08-03T10:48:30","modified_gmt":"2016-08-03T08:48:30","slug":"skeffa-chimoto-grows-fan-base-in-zambia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/08\/03\/skeffa-chimoto-grows-fan-base-in-zambia\/","title":{"rendered":"Skeffa Chimoto grows fan base in Zambia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lilongwe-based musician Skeffa Chimoto is back from Zambia where he flew the country\u2019s flag at an agriculture and commercial show.<\/p>\n<p>Skeffa jetted back home on Tuesday from the annual event which started on July 27 and ended on August 1.<\/p>\n<p>This was the fourth time for Skeffa to perform at this yearly trade event where apart from artists\u2019 performances brings together several exhibitors from all over the Southern and Eastern Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am excited to have represented Malawi once again and my band Real Sounds. I should also say that we have surely grown our fan base looking at the massive support we received,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said once again he shared the stage with several artists from other countries and that he also had a chance of interacting with some of them as well as sharing notes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongolese musician Koffi Olomide was also supposed to perform but he was removed following the incident which happened in Kenya and was replaced with another artist. But it is important to attend these shows because you learn a lot. I was actually surprised with the way people cheered in all the three shows we had,\u201d said Skeffa.<\/p>\n<p>Skeffa also revealed that two companies have shown interest in making him brand ambassador.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will be going back to Zambia to finalise the deals and sign contracts if all goes well but they are impressed with me as well as my songs. The companies are Trade Kings and Astro Mobile,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The musician, who is also an ambassador of other companies in the country, said the two companies explained to him that they love his music.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey actually like the fact that I love doing songs that always advocate for peace and with elections coming up in Zambia they feel I could play a role in spreading messages of peace,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The artist famed for hits such as <em>Nabola Moyo <\/em>and <em>Tisawanyoze <\/em>said he was thankful to God for the talent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to thank God for the talent and as a musician, I will continue doing my best in coming up with songs that help bring about change,\u201d said the former Health Education Band member.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lilongwe-based musician Skeffa Chimoto is back from Zambia where he flew the country\u2019s flag at an agriculture and commercial show.
