The Jamaican musician Busy Signal show which was scheduled to take place on August 27 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe has been shifted to September 3.<\/p>\n
Musician Lucicus Banda, popularly known as Soldier, confirmed the development on Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s true the show has been shifted to September 3 because of our colleagues in Zimbabwe. Busy Signal was supposed to perform in Zimbabwe on September 3 but our colleagues have pulled out, so we could not have managed to keep Busy Signal for two weeks as he will perform in South Africa on September 10,\u201d Lucius said.<\/p>\n
He said they had no choice with the pulling out of their colleagues in Zimbabwe but rather shift it to September 3.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know there is a Sound and Light concert on September 4 but we were in a fix and we had no choice. We just call upon people to support the two events,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Lucius said the Busy Signal show was part of raising funds for the Sunbird Sand Music Festival set to take place in Salima the last weekend of October.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year\u2019s festival will be big, we want to maintain the standard set last year where Busy Signal offered an electric performance and this is also the reason he accepted to help us fundraise for the festival,\u201d the legendary musician said.<\/p>\n
Over the weekend Lucius through his Zembani Music Company also organised three shows in Liwonde, Lilongwe and Mzuzu which featured Zambian musician General Kanene.<\/p>\n
The three shows which attracted impressive audiences, according to Lucius, were part of raising funds for the Busy Signal show.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to do more fundraising shows so as to hold a perfect festival in October. Last year, we had Busy Signal but this year, there will be a big line-up, actually about four artists from Jamaica are coming, we have done this because Malawians love reggae and that is from the research we have made,\u201d Lucius said.<\/p>\n
He also said this year the festival will also celebrate reggae icon Lucky Dube.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe actually will dedicate the Saturday of the festival to reggae music and that is part of celebrating the life of Lucky Dube. Chances are actually high that Thuthukani Cele will come as well as Lucky Dube\u2019s son,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Lucius could not mention the names of the four Jamaican musicians, who are coming.<\/p>\n
Dube was a South African reggae musician and Rastafarian.<\/p>\n
He recorded 22 albums in Zulu, English and Afrikaans in a 25- year period and was South Africa\u2019s biggest-selling reggae artist.<\/p>\n
Dube was murdered in the Johannesburg suburb of Rosettenville on the evening of October 18, 2007.<\/p>\n
