{"id":29155,"date":"2016-08-01T13:13:19","date_gmt":"2016-08-01T11:13:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=29155"},"modified":"2016-08-01T13:13:20","modified_gmt":"2016-08-01T11:13:20","slug":"noel-lipipa-takes-over-big-bullets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/08\/01\/noel-lipipa-takes-over-big-bullets\/","title":{"rendered":"Noel Lipipa takes over Big Bullets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nyasa Big Bullets\u2019 Extra-ordinary General Meeting (EGM) held in Lilongwe on Sunday dissolved the Sam Chilunga\u2013led administration and elected former treasurer, Noel Lipipa, as interim chairperson.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to dissolve the executive received a majority 37 votes against six votes, paving the way for the elections that saw Hassam Jussab and Austin Kasito elected as first and second vice-chairpersons, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Kelvin Moyo was retained as the club\u2019s General Secretary with Bizzy Kalozeni as his deputy. The position of treasurer went to Alex Gondwe, whereas Grace Chenda -Mkandawire was elected as the deputy.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting agreed that the six committee members will be co-opted by the interim committee. The elections will be held next year.<\/p>\n<p>Delegates also agreed that the interim committee will set up a sub-committee to look into the issue of the club\u2019s ownership.<\/p>\n<p>Before the elections, one of the players\u2019 representatives at the EGM, James Chilapondwa, claimed that the players were tired with the Chilunga-led leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no respect for players. Some players received signing-on fees because they negotiated before signing. Others are receiving because they are in good terms with the leadership,\u201d read part of the ultimatum issued by Bullets players.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no unity among players because the leadership is favouring some of the players instead of being a parent to all. The players, who are the backbone of our team, are saying choose wisely because they are tired of being used. This sponsorship is for us to enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bullets owe players in excess of K40 million in signing-on fees.<\/p>\n<p>Chilunga left the assembly soon after his speech in which he acknowledged that the team was sailing through troubled waters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the team has done well this season by winning the Presidential Cup, there are several issues affecting the club. Some of the issues are self-created mainly due to ignorance and greed,\u201d Chilunga said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI f these issues are not resolved, they will affect the team\u2019s performance, relationship among the sponsor, the Executive and Trustees and ultimately, the brand of the team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bullets\u2019 Board of Trustees\u2019 spokesperson, Jim Kalua, admitted that there were some concerns on the team\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n<p>The sponsor, Nyasa Manufacturing Company, also attended the meeting in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nyasa Big Bullets\u2019 Extra-ordinary General Meeting (EGM) held in Lilongwe on Sunday dissolved the Sam Chilunga\u2013led administration and elected former treasurer, Noel Lipipa, as interim chairperson.
