{"id":29106,"date":"2016-08-01T11:52:52","date_gmt":"2016-08-01T09:52:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=29106"},"modified":"2016-08-01T11:52:52","modified_gmt":"2016-08-01T09:52:52","slug":"q-malewezi-finally-gives-people-to-blantyre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/08\/01\/q-malewezi-finally-gives-people-to-blantyre\/","title":{"rendered":"Q Malewezi finally gives \u2018People\u2019 to Blantyre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After successfully launching his spoken word poetry album <em>People <\/em>in Lilongwe in April, Q Malewezi finally took his <em>People <\/em>to the people of Blantyre holding his show at M Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>He would have loved to dish out his <em>People <\/em>in front of so many people but not many people made it to this good venue which also hosts movies.<\/p>\n<p>But still more Q was satisfied with the turn out, that supported him throughout the show and to show his gratitude, he went on to offer the best on the night including interacting with the people by giving them a good performance and he surely through his <em>People <\/em>saw people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first event of promoting my album and taking it to all the four main cities in Malawi but will be focusing on tertiary institutions as well as performances like this one,\u201d he said before he went into serious business.<\/p>\n<p>Through his verses, Q, who was awarded an honorary doctorate for his contribution to the creative arts by Mzuzu University, delivered powerful messages speaking about the social ills being experienced in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Before Q, who was the main headliner, delivered his razor-sharp performance, several other poets warmed up the stage and they included Sylvester Kalizang\u2019oma, Yankho Seunda and Lily Banda.<\/p>\n<p>The curtainraisers, who also put up brave performances although others were nervous, dished out their different poems tackling different issues affecting the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish more people came to watch the show tonight. I have never watched Q Malewezi perform and this was my first time but he killed it and he is good. I also loved the other poets and I should say I liked the fact that all had their own styles,\u201d said one of the fans, who only identified himself as Kimberly.<\/p>\n<p>Q started his performance by taking people back to his previous works before he moved on to <em>People<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>People, which was being sold at the event at K3,000 has 12 poems and they include <em>Of Things that I Know, Without a Doubt, Pretend, Just The Way You Are, Monica\u2019s Secret <\/em>in which he featured Marlen Chimombo, <em>Fragments, Heavenly Bodies, They <\/em>and <em>Count<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After successfully launching his spoken word poetry album People in Lilongwe in April, Q Malewezi finally took his People to the people of Blantyre holding his show at M Theatre.
