{"id":2887,"date":"2015-05-22T09:06:48","date_gmt":"2015-05-22T09:06:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=2887"},"modified":"2015-05-22T09:06:48","modified_gmt":"2015-05-22T09:06:48","slug":"blantyre-lions-club-donates-eye-glasses-to-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/05\/22\/blantyre-lions-club-donates-eye-glasses-to-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"Blantyre Lions Club donates eye glasses to hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lions Club of Blantyre last week donated 30 kilogrammes of used eye glasses to Blantyre-based Lions Eye Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>According to Lions Club former president and director of the Club, Lion Vikesh Vanzara, the club decided to donate after noticing that there are a lot of people who are failing to buy glasses on their own.<\/p>\n<p>The donated glasses, which are estimated to be around 3000 pieces, were sourced by United Kingdom-based, Lion Harjit Dhanoa, who is an ex-member of Lions Club of Capital City after Vinzara approached him for help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis donation will go a long way in reducing the problems of accessing eye glasses. These donated glasses, which can be used for reading and other eye-related purposes, will be given out to underprivileged people for free,\u201d Vanzara said.<\/p>\n<p>He then thanked Dhanoa and other well-wishers in the United Kingdom for sourcing the glasses and Air Cargo for bringing the glasses to Malawi almost for free<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lions Club of Blantyre last week donated 30 kilogrammes of used eye glasses to Blantyre-based Lions Eye Hospital.
