Musician Vita Chirwa and his Kalimba Band is out with a new album titled Moto Moto <\/em>set to hit the market anytime soon.<\/p>\n

Vita, who has been in the music industry for a long time said yesterday that the eight track album has taken him time and that he has revisited some of the old songs and given them modern touch.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been sometime since I released an album. So through this album we just want to show that Vita Chirwa and Kalimba are still intact and still continuing the journey. We are just making final touches otherwise the songs should be hitting the airwaves anytime,\u201d said Vita.<\/p>\n

He said in the spirit of keeping the fire burning, the album features a remake of Mkazi Wachingoni\u2019s <\/em>reggae version, his late grandmother\u2019s Mbanjani Awo <\/em>for which he said he sought the beautiful harmonies of his local church choir.<\/p>\n

\u201cI recorded it in loving memory of both my mother and my grandmother,\u201d said Vita.<\/p>\n

The album also features the song One In Love <\/em>which was written by his late uncle Griffin Mhango plus other fresh songs Rosalina<\/em>, a calypso piece, Mukhale Nafe <\/em>which is a gospel song and Walikuyowoya Yesu Khristu <\/em>, a song which he said former head of state late Hastings Kamuzu Banda\u2019s mbumba from Mzimba used to sing during political rallies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have transformed the song into a powerful gospel tune and I believe people will love the track. This was also part of preserving the song because it is part of our history,\u201d said the musician.<\/p>\n

In the album recorded and produced by Blessings Nkhoma at Nyasa Studios in Lilongwe, Vita has also played a fast one collaborating with youthful urban artists Dominant One and Mandela Mwanza popularly known as Third Eye.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I said the album is a variety show. I have two reggae pieces, one calypso, afro pop, afro fusion and a ballad,\u201d said Vita.<\/p>\n

He said that he worked with Third Eye and Dominant One in One In Love because they are two of his favourite rappers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have always fancied working with them and I am glad that they accepted. Just also to mention that I have a feeling that One In Love <\/em>would have been Griffin Mhango\u2019s next Sometimes I Wonder <\/em>had he recorded it but he chose not to because he was disappointed with Kalimba record company the way they handled the album Make Friends With The World<\/em>,\u201d said Vita.<\/p>\n

Vita and his Kalimba Band\u2019s previous albums are Eruption <\/em>(1998), Tiyende Limodzi <\/em>( 1999), Mayo <\/em>(2001), Umoyo <\/em>( 2009) and Kwanu Nkwanu <\/em>(2014).<\/p>\n
