{"id":28714,"date":"2016-07-25T13:47:30","date_gmt":"2016-07-25T11:47:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=28714"},"modified":"2016-07-25T14:28:29","modified_gmt":"2016-07-25T12:28:29","slug":"ahl-group-drills-transporters-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/07\/25\/ahl-group-drills-transporters-staff\/","title":{"rendered":"AHL Group drills transporters, staff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AHL Group last week drilled tobacco transporters as well as its members of staff on the dangers of contracting HIV, the virus that causes Aids.<\/p>\n<p>The HIV and Aids training took place in Blantyre on Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the training, AHL Group HIV and Aids Coordinator, Leonard Chakwawa, urged the transporters as well as the members of staff to be faithful to their partners and refrain from casual sex.<\/p>\n<p>According to Chakwawa, statistics have shown that by occupation, the HIV prevalence rate among truck drivers in general is 14 percent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tobacco industry hasn\u2019t been spared of HIV and Aids. Considering the vital role that tobacco truck drivers play in the tobacco industry, transporting the green gold from the field to the auction floors and again that they spend most of the time on the road and away from homes, AHL Group annually organizes \u00a0HIV and Aids workshops for tobacco transporters to make them aware of the dangers of getting the virus,\u201d said Chakwawa.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged the staff members and their partners to go for HIV testing so that they know their sero status.<\/p>\n<p>According to Chakwawa, knowing ones sero status helps the members of staff and their partners to plan better for their lives.
