Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) has urged youths in the country to restrain from being used by people who have no intention of helping them other than using them to indulge in violence.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the opening of a one-day workshop for youths at Nantipwiri Pastoral Centre at Bvumbwe in Thyolo, Board Chairperson for CCJP, Reverend John Kuzion,a said it is sad to see the youth being used by politicians during campaign and abandon them after they win.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the campaign period, most youths are seen in the streets blocking roads, destroying other people\u2019s property or even beating innocent people who seem to have different political opinion from that of their masters; but once the elections are over, the youths are never taken on board to enjoy fruits of their work,\u201d explained Kuziona.<\/p>\n
He said most youths do this because they don not know their rights and they do not have courage to say no to politicians, so the training was to teach the youth about their rights and how they can best serve the country.<\/p>\n
One of the youths who attended the training said the training was an eye opener and they have learnt a lot on human rights and how best they can help in the development of the country, rather than being used by people.<\/p>\n
According to another participant from Mwanza, Joyce Chinyama, they are receiving a lot of cases where by guardians are forcing girls to marriage.<\/p>\n
The girls were however advised to report such cases to paralegal offices in their districts.<\/p>\n
The training will reach out to 15 youth clubs in Mwanza, Neno, Blantyre City and rural, Phalombe and Mulanje.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
