{"id":2839,"date":"2015-05-22T08:33:30","date_gmt":"2015-05-22T08:33:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=2839"},"modified":"2015-05-22T08:33:30","modified_gmt":"2015-05-22T08:33:30","slug":"marco-sadik-breaks-silence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/05\/22\/marco-sadik-breaks-silence\/","title":{"rendered":"Marco Sadik breaks silence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Musician Marco Sadik famed for the hit \u2018Linda,\u2019 has said he has settled in Kenya for now because there are no well paying job opportunities for qualified audio engineers in the country at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>The hoarse voiced musician is in Kenya having finished his music studies at SAE Institute in, Amsterdam, Netherlands last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving finished my two year studies at SAE Institute graduating with a BA (Hons) in Audio Engineering which is offered by Middlesex University in United Kingdom I am now settled in Kenya and it\u2019s now time to set up a studio and work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The dreadlocked artist observed that in Kenya the industry is growing big everyday with companies that have state of the art sound systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will be here for now but I will definitely come back home to start up my own events company in the near future. By the way I will be in Malawi next month performing at Chameleon bar on June 27,\u201d said Marco.<\/p>\n<p>Marco is back in the limelight with a new single titled \u2018Amafuna Chikondi,\u2019 which he says has a strong Zouk rhythm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe song was produced by Shunkyz and recorded at OnWard Studios in Nairobi, Kenya. I am actually working on a new album which should be ready in September this year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Marco said the time spent overseas has given him much time to reflect on and provide new inspiration for his current material.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am ready for the industry now having acquired the right skills and people should brace for the single \u2018Amafuna Chikondi,\u2019 from my pending third album Nsanje,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also revealed that he will strive to connect Kenyan artists with fellow artists in Malawi so that they work on collaborations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we are to grow our music then we also have to look at collaborations, at the moment Kenya is one of the countries which is flying when it comes to music and so if we can work on collaborations this would mean coming out as well,\u201d said Marco.<\/p>\n<p>He also called on Copyright Society of Malawi (Cosoma) and Musicians Union of Malawi (Mum) to take up the issue of caller tunes and rectify the anomalies so that musicians benefit from them.<\/p>\n<p>Marco\u2019s outcry also follows complaints from other artists who have also said they are not benefiting anything from the caller tunes despite their songs being used.<\/p>\n<p>The artist last year also came to the limelight when he complained on the issue of caller tunes which he noted were not benefiting musicians.<\/p>\n<p>Marco released his debut album <em>Umodzi <\/em>in 2007 before his second <em>Zanga <\/em>in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>He later released singles \u2018Hizo ni Zao\u2019 produced by Kenya producer RKay, followed by \u2018Samalani Chikondi\u2019 produced by Pro Pee and \u2018Zonse ndi Nthawi\u2019 both recorded in 2013 in Amsterdam and produced by Lesley Romano.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Musician Marco Sadik famed for the hit \u2018Linda,\u2019 has said he has settled in Kenya for now because there are no well paying job opportunities for qualified audio engineers in the country at the moment.
