Member of Parliament for Chiradzulu Central Constituency, Hanif Osman, has donated a vehicle worth, K3 million to Montfort Police Unit in Nguludi to ease mobility challenges that officers at the unit have been facing.<\/p>\n
Presenting the vehicle to the unit in the presence of Commissioner of Police for the Southern Region, Demister Chingwenembe, Osman said the donation is a fulfillment of the promises he made during the campaign period prior to the 2014 tripartite elections.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want lives of people here to improve, security is the number one priority. Officers at Montfort have been struggling in their operations especially due to lack of transport resources and I hope by donating this vehicle, we are easing the burden,\u201d said Osman.<\/p>\n
On his part, Chigwenembe hailed Osman for supporting the Malawi Police Service describing the gesture as a sign of patriotism.<\/p>\n
He also urged officers at Montfort Police Unit to put the vehicle to good use so that it serves the surrounding communities better.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want people who are committed to support their police so that together we tighten security in Malawi. The police is facing a number of issues as you all know and transport issues are common, sometimes we are accused of arriving at crime scenes late but that is mainly due to lack of resources to take us there, but with this vehicle, we hope security will improve in this area,\u201d said Chigwenembe.<\/p>\n
Chigwenembe has also appealed to people in the country to support efforts by their police through community policing strategies so that there is improved relationship between the police and members of communities<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
