National team seasoned midfielder, Joseph Kamwendo, might make a sensation return to South Africa Absa Premier Soccer League (PSL) following interest from newly-promoted Highlands Park.<\/p>\n
South African online football magazine, Soccer Laduma, has reported that Highlands coach, Alan Freese, was impressed with the performance of the Mozambique-based player at the recent Cosafa Castle Cup in Namibia.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom what the owner of the team in Mozambique said, the newly- promoted Highlands Park are interested in Shakira\u2019s services,\u201d the source told Soccer Laduma about the Liga Desportivo Maputo player.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt will all depend on what they want and if Highlands Park will afford it. They are looking for $40,000 [K28 million] and that is what they think he deserves but he could be moving to the PSL.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kamwendo has 54 PSL appearances to his name, having played for Vasco Da Gama and Orlando Pirates previously.<\/p>\n
A source close to Liga Desportivo management confirmed to The Daily Times <\/em>yesterday about Highlands\u2019 interest in the player. Tanzanian side, Azam FC, have also been eyeing Kamwendo.<\/p>\n \u201cBut the team owner [Rafik Sidat] is unlikely to sell him as he wants him to play this season. Of course, if there is a big offer, they will likely sell him,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n The former Be Forward Wanderers and Zimbabwe\u2019s Caps United star confirmed that while he is viewed as aged in Malawi football circles, there are many potential suitors for him.<\/p>\n \u201cThey are talking to my bosses. So let us wait and see what the South African club will agree with my team here. I feel like a 17-year-old. To me age is just but a number.
