The Malawi Writers Union (Mawu) Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was scheduled for last week will be held on Saturday in Liwonde, Machinga.<\/p>\n
Top on the AGM\u2019s agenda is the election of Mawu\u2019s new executive. The executive serves a term of four years.<\/p>\n
The positions up for grabs are those of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and publicity secretary.<\/p>\n
The current interim president, Sambalikagwa Mvona, has expressed interest to stand again.<\/p>\n
The AGM would also pave way for the election of chairpersons for the Budding, Women and Religious Writers\u2019 desks.<\/p>\n
Mvona confirmed yesterday that the AGM was on this coming Saturday.<\/p>\n
It is not yet clear as to which members have come up to challenge Mvona for the presidency.<\/p>\n
An official from Copyright Society of Malawi projects office revealed that Mawu\u2019s AGM was shifted to this Saturday due to logistical problems.<\/p>\n
The official added that, before the Mawu AGM, there would be a Poetry Association of Malawi (Pam) AGM to take place on Friday.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe changed the dates because of logistical issues but everything is now set. We have an AGM for Pam on Friday and then Mawu on Saturday,\u201d said the Cosoma projects office official.<\/p>\n
