Representatives of the schools were tested in English, Mathematics, Social and Current Affairs, Primary Science and Arts and Life Skills.<\/p>\n<p>However, it was St Columba who took the lead during the first round, leading Young Ambassadors by 8 points to nil. But Young Ambassadors came with other ideas in the second round, which ended 6\/6. Although Young Ambassadors led the scores by 6 points to 2, and 7 points to St Columba\u2019s 5 in the second and third round, respectively, it was a matter of too little too late for Young Ambassadors.<\/p>\n<p>St Columba came back strong in the last round to end the contest at 8 points to 7. Cumulatively, they registered 29 points against Young Ambassadors\u2019 26 to be declared winners and cart home K300, 000. Young Ambassadors pocketed K200, 000.<\/p>\n<p>In the secondary school category, Mlauli Private Secondary School faced Our Lady of Wisdom and competed in English, Mathematics, Pure Science, Applied Science and Social Studies, Life Skills and Current Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>Our Lady of Wisdom emerged victors in a tightly-contested finale to cart home K400, 000. Mlauli Private Secondary received K300, 000.<\/p>\n<p>Patel said: \u201cThe Quiz Competition has brought competition among students and pupils, hence our children are brighter than ever before\u2026.This is just the beginning and next academic year, the competition will be rolled out in all Isama schools in Malawi,\u201d said Patel.<\/p>\n<p>Independent Schools Association of Malawi (Isama) president, Joseph Patel, said Isama decided to launch the competition after observing that private schools were being sidelined in national quiz competitions.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, Education, Science and Technology deputy minister, Vincent Ghambi, hailed Isama for introducing the initiative.
