Thugs on Sunday invaded former president Bingu wa Mutharika\u2019s Ndata Farm where they destroyed several items in Mpumulo wa Bata.<\/p>\n
The thugs broke into the imposing Mpumulo wa Bata Mausoleum\u2014 where Mutharika and his wife Ethel Mutharika were buried \u2014 and destroyed six portraits of the late Mutharika, two serving bowls, two big drawers, window glasses, curtains, picture frames and other valuables.<\/p>\n
However, P o lice National spokesperson, Nicholas Gondwa, was elusive on the matter. He asked for more time on Wednesday to gather information only to tell us on Thursday that the information on the matter was not handy as police officers from whom he was supposed to source it were on holiday.<\/p>\n
But The Daily Times <\/em>has established that the police have arrested Ernest Mayaya Walesi, aged 18 years from Mitabali Village in Traditional Authority Chimaliro in Thyolo District.<\/p>\n \u201cThe suspect is currently being kept at Limbe Police Station in Blantyre.
