Ethiopian Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350 plane in the French aeronautics city of Toulouse, becoming the first African carrier to own the new-generation wide-body aircraft.<\/p>\n
The plane will first be deployed on the Addis Ababa and Lagos, and Addis Ababa and Dubai routes.<\/p>\n
Ethiopian Airlines\u2019 ordered 14 A350XWB planes and says it will receive \u201cthe remaining 13 soon.<\/p>\n
The airline said it was proud to be the first one to fly the ultra-modern airplane in the African skies.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fact that we are ushering in another first to Africa in a span of four years is an affirmation of our continuing pioneering role in African aviation,\u201d said Tewolde Gebremariam, group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.<\/p>\n
All the new aircraft are configured with 30 Cloud Nine business class seats, and 318 economy seats.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is also a testimony of our commitment to give our passengers the very best travel experience, with the latest industry products and services,\u201d Tewolde added.<\/p>\n
Ethiopian Airlines will be the second airline in the Star Alliance network, after Singapore Airlines, to take delivery of the new-generation airbus.<\/p>\n
