Legendary Kinnah Phiri, who coaches Tanzania Vodacom Premier League side Mbeya City FC, is frustrated that his search for three quality players in Malawi is hitting a blank wall.<\/p>\n
Last month, Mbeya management assigned Kinnah to take advantage of his holiday in Malawi and scout for a centre-back, goalkeeper and striker.<\/p>\n
Now, the former Flames and Nyasa Big Bullets coach said he simply cannot locate quality players.<\/p>\n
\u201cLooking at the national team performance, no one impressed me. It is even a problem now that the national team is not doing well. People don\u2019t have the confidence in our players,\u201d Kinnah explained in an interview from Mzuzu.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt also gives us professional coaches a problem when it comes to getting a good job. They say, \u2018if you are a good coach, why can\u2019t you help your country?\u2019 Management gave me the priority of Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe to scout for the players because they do not have the confidence in Malawian players.\u201d<\/p>\n
The former South Africa\u2019s Free State Stars mentor said he was desperate to, at least, sign a Malawian goalkeeper.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe I can get one with potential and develop him,\u201d said the Uefa-Licence holder, who steered the Flames to 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.<\/p>\n
