{"id":27353,"date":"2016-07-04T15:32:47","date_gmt":"2016-07-04T13:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=27353"},"modified":"2016-07-04T15:32:47","modified_gmt":"2016-07-04T13:32:47","slug":"peoples-party-suspends-mp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/07\/04\/peoples-party-suspends-mp\/","title":{"rendered":"People\u2019s Party suspends MP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Opposition People\u2019s Party has suspended its Member of Parliament (MP) for Zomba Ntonya Constituency, Patrick Makina, for allegedly sidelining the party\u2019s structures in the constituency since he was elected.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the development, PP Spokesperson, Ken Msonda, said the suspension is with immediate effect pending Makina\u2019s appearance before the party\u2019s disciplinary committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe will be summoned for hearing soon. The party has taken this painful decision to save its image in Zomba Ntonya Constituency. I cannot comment much until the disciplinary committee meets,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Msonda, however, said it is also alleged that the parliamentarian has been working with Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to remind our party members in leadership positions that the party has rules and regulations to be followed and that once elected to positions of leadership, we should not forget to work with the party grassroots who elected us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Efforts to get a comment from the parliamentarian proved futile as he could not be reached on his mobile phone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Opposition People\u2019s Party has suspended its Member of Parliament (MP) for Zomba Ntonya Constituency, Patrick Makina, for allegedly sidelining the party\u2019s structures in the constituency since he was elected.
