Diamonds are bidding to reclaim the championship they let go last season.<\/p>\n
Diamonds assistant coach, Noel Mussa, said they selected players depending on several factors.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe picked our strongest team at the moment. The two were not in our game-plan because they are not fit enough to play,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In other matches, Prison Sisters beat Chilomoni Sisters 65-25 while Gerald Tasaukadala humbled Young Professionals 48-17.<\/p>\n
Prison assistant coach, Pemphero Ntalika, said they were also excited by their start to the league.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is always good to win your opening game to gather momentum,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The match between defending champions, Tigresses and Alliance Capital Stars, was postponed after the latter contributed five players to the Malawi Under-21 side.<\/p>\n
The league\u2019s General Secretary, Annie Hanjahanja, said the performance of the teams was promising.<\/p>\n
