Several artists including reggae group Black Missionaries and Billy Kaunda will tonight share the stage in a show dubbed Carlsberg Independence Gala at Motel Paradise in Blantyre.<\/p>\n
The phungwe show has been organised by Entertainers Promotions.<\/p>\n
Jai Banda, better known as Mr Entertainer, said yesterday that Motel Paradise would be on fire tonight adding that all the artists billed to perform would be there.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited to host the Carlsberg Independence Gala. We thought of hosting this event to give a chance to people to celebrate our independence since we will not have the usual celebrations where we have traditional dances, soccer, netball and other activities this year,\u201d said Jai.<\/p>\n
He said the concept for the event was hatched by his son Tonderai, who currently spearheads Entertainers Promotions.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am actually just standing in for my son Tonderai who is currently in the United States of America with Patience Namadingo for performances. I can assure people that everything is in place and we are good to go with the gala,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Jai said they have enough personnel to provide tight security during the gala for people to enjoy the performances.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople should not worry about security because we have hired enough personnel. Again we will not compromise on the sound, we will be mounting the equipment today (yesterday),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Jai also said people will have time to watch Billy Kaunda performing at Motel Paradise after so many years.<\/p>\n
\u201cBilly Kaunda has been out of the stage for so many years but now this is a chance for people to see him performing live once again,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He hailed Carlsberg Malawi for partnering them to host the gala ahead of the independence which falls on Wednesday July 6.<\/p>\n
Other artists performing at the gala are Khozie Masimbe, Yanjanani Chumbu, Malawi Police Orchestra and 4 Tees Disco.<\/p>\n
Kaunda of the Mwapindulanji <\/em>fame said he was excited to be part of the gala.<\/p>\n \u201cWe will be there and we are ready for the event,\u201d said the musician, a former deputy minister and Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n Blacks lead vocalist Anjiru Fumulani also said they were ready for the showdown which is a perfect platform celebrating independence.<\/p>\n Makondetsa popularly known as Mr Cool, who has been out of the stage for sometime could not be reached for his comment Thursday.<\/p>\n But Jai insisted that the Mbumba Ya Abrahamu <\/em>hit maker would be available.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Several artists including reggae group Black Missionaries and Billy Kaunda will tonight share the stage in a show dubbed Carlsberg Independence Gala at Motel Paradise in Blantyre.
