Flames captain Limbikani Mzava and his predecessor Joseph Kamwendo have refused to indulge in talk over reports that Football Association of Malawi (Fam) technical committee has recommended against renewing coach Ernest Mtawali\u2019s contract, which expires on July 31.<\/p>\n
Fam sub-committee met on Saturday last weekend to review the performance of the technical panel during the Cosafa Cup and a game against Zimbabwe in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.<\/p>\n
Kamwendo said it was not his responsibility to choose a coach for the national team.<\/p>\n
He added that his focus was on playing football.<\/p>\n
The former Orlando Pirates and Be Forward Wanderers player said they are always ready to work with any coach.<\/p>\n
Kamwendo added that Mtawali\u2019s relationship with the Flames\u2019 players was superb.<\/p>\n
\u201cPersonally, I did not have a problem working with coach Mtawali. As a senior player, I will work with any coach. I don\u2019t want to talk much on this because it is not my responsibility,\u201d Kamwendo said.<\/p>\n
Mzava said it would be difficult for him to express his views on Mtawali as he is just hearing rumours about the future of the coach.<\/p>\n
Mzava said he has learnt a lot from Mtawali and he believes that he has identified players that will do a good job in future.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just heard that the technical committee has recommended that the coach must go and as a captain, I can\u2019t say anything because our job is to play football with any coach at that particular time,\u201d Mzava said.
