  1. Y Imports and Export, in conjunction with its sister company Dr Print, have pumped K5 million into a two-day basketball bonanza dubbed King and Queen of the courts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The bonanza will take place at Africa Bible College in Lilongwe this weekend.<\/p>\n

    The company\u2019s Managing Director, Griffin Kalua, announced yesterday that he was committed to taking basketball to greater heights.<\/p>\n

    \u201cThis basketball tournament is going to be a great development for sports in Malawi as it is uplifting minor sports activities. We hope that the tournament will be exciting and offer the teams a chance to fine-tune before the start of the second round in their respective leagues,\u201d Kalua said.<\/p>\n

    The tournament will attract eight men\u2019s basketball teams and three women\u2019s teams from all Basketball Association of Malawi (Basmal) zones.<\/p>\n

    In the men\u2019s category, teams have been divided into two groups.<\/p>\n

    Southern Zone Basketball League (Sozobal) will be represented by Blantyre-based Bricks and Magang\u2019a, whereas the Northern Zone Basketball League (Nozobal) will contribute Nkhulande in the men\u2019s category and a ladies\u2019 select team.<\/p>\n

    Bricks have been drawn alongside Central Region basketball giants Trojans, Bayonets and Cougars in Group A, whereas group B comprise Brave Hearts, Magang\u2019a,Nkhulande and Mimbulu.<\/p>\n

    Central Zone Basketball League (Cezobal) champions (ladies) Angels will battle against Brave Hearts Ladies and Nozobal select in the ladies\u2019 category.<\/p>\n

    The champions in the men\u2019s category will pocket K1million, a trophy and medals, whereas runners-up will get K400,000.<\/p>\n

    The champions in the ladies\u2019 category will receive K500,000, a trophy and medals.<\/p>\n

    There will be individual awards including Most Valuable Player, Most Disciplined and Best Defending Player.<\/p>\n

    Each will walk away with fabulous prizes courtesy of G. Y. Imports and Exports – dealers in stationary, office equipment, building materials and furniture.<\/p>\n

    The games will be spiced up by disco and basketball players will have a chance to buy quality basketball sneakers from Brave Hearts Trading.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
