With eight months on the sidelines, the 2015 TNM Super League best goalkeeper is yet to be treated as scheduled at Beit Cure International Hospital due to a K1.5 million shortfall of his K3.1 million medical bill.<\/p>\n
The former Azam Tigers FC goalkeeper admitted that his career was at cross-roads because his contract with Bullets expired in March.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a matter of fact, the club is paying me part of my salary, but when you are playing, you earn a lot through game bonuses. I am grateful that the club is assisting me, but my worry is on my career due to the injury,\u201d Gona explained.<\/p>\n
Bullets raised part of the money for Gona\u2019s treatment from a friendly match against Be Forward Wanderers two weeks ago.<\/p>\n
Bullets vice-chairperson of the Finance Committee, George Ndindi, yesterday said although the player is yet to sign a contract extension, they still regard him as their employee.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn other words, he is still part of us and I want to assure you that come next week, Gona will be treated because we have finalised everything by negotiating with well-wishers,\u201d Ndindi said.<\/p>\n
