No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions has been given the right to sanction the junior welterweight rematch between belt holder Osgood Kayuni and challenger Limbani Masamba.<\/p>\n
The 12-round contest is set for next month in Lilongwe at a venue to be announced.<\/p>\n
Both the promoter and the boxers have confirmed the development, saying contracts would be penned this weekend.<\/p>\n
The development comes as a relief to both Kayuni and Limbani who were in state of despair.<\/p>\n
Kayuni would have lost the belt for failing to defend it within the stipulated three months while Limbani has been itching for a rematch after controversially losing the initial title fight.<\/p>\n
No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions managing director, Craig Rousseau, said they would promote the rematch to give Kayuni and Limbani equal platform.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe felt it wise to give Kayuni a chance to defend his belt rather than losing it through boardroom decisions. Similarly, Limbani has been looking for a rematch after that loss which he described as controversial,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Rousseau said both boxers had agreed with the terms and they would sign contracts this weekend.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe draft contracts were sent to them and they are happy with the terms,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kayuni, 28, said he wanted to cement his reputation as the best boxer in this division.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know he is seething with anger but I will prepare to silence him for good,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kayuni has fought 29 times, won 23 fights, lost five and drew once while Limbani, 24, has fought 15 fights, won 12 times and lost thrice.<\/p>\n
Limbani said he would prepare to prove that he was robbed of victory in the first fight.<\/p>\n
