{"id":27114,"date":"2016-06-30T11:49:56","date_gmt":"2016-06-30T09:49:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=27114"},"modified":"2016-06-30T11:49:56","modified_gmt":"2016-06-30T09:49:56","slug":"flood-church-brings-free-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/06\/30\/flood-church-brings-free-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Flood Church brings free festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/malewezi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-27119\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/malewezi-300x204.jpg\" alt=\"malewezi\" width=\"300\" height=\"204\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/malewezi-300x204.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/malewezi-90x60.jpg 90w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/malewezi-95x64.jpg 95w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/malewezi.jpg 489w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>In an effort aimed at giving a chance to people to showcase their talents but also celebrate the country\u2019s culture and history, Flood Church will on July 6 hold a free Ufulu Festival at Mbowe Filling Station in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>The church which recently also hosted an event which featured Ethel Kamwendo Banda and US artists, said this is a free festival that is open to everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinator of the festival Humphreys Mkandawire said this year\u2019s festival will be spiced up by performances from several artists including renowned poet Q Malewezi.<\/p>\n<p>Q who recently launched his poetry album <em>People <\/em>confirmed yesterday that he will be part of the Ufulu Festival.<\/p>\n<p>The other artists performing at the free festival are DJ Kali, Ernest Ikwanga, Menes La Plume, Theo Thomson, Sam Mjura Mkandawire, Joshua Matonga, Nyali Muzik, Suffix and Airtel Trace Music Star Season 2 representative Ruth Kulaisi Chikoleka.<\/p>\n<p>Kulaisi Chikoleka also confirmed he r performance at the free festival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes I am part of the festival and I am performing. Looking forward to the event,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mkandawire said the Ufulu Festival is one of the environments Flood Church creates for people of all walks of life to come together and celebrate Malawi\u2019s culture, history and life together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also serves to allow us to reflect together on our journey as a nation and work towards a better future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mkandawire added that this space is created through music and dance as well as encouraging attendees to think about how they can contribute to their nation\u2019s future using the talents, gifts, skills and experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will have interactive and creative activities to allow young people to honour the past and dream for the future and this is even great as we are looking forward to celebrating our independence,\u201d he said of the event to be hosted by DJ Joy Nathu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In an effort aimed at giving a chance to people to showcase their talents but also celebrate the country\u2019s culture and history, Flood Church will on July 6 hold a free Ufulu Festival at Mbowe Filling Station in Lilongwe.
