President Peter Mutharika seems to have kick started an early campaign for the 2019 tripartite elections.<\/p>\n
When he toured townships in Blantyre where he inspected road projects, Mutharika made calls for support for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the 2019 elections.<\/p>\n
Speaking in Bangwe Township, Mutharika thanked people for the support rendered to him during the 2014 general elections and called on them to maintain DPP Members of Parliament (MPs) and him as president.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will not say much because I didn\u2019t come to conduct a rally, but I would like to thank you for voting me and my MP in power. When 2019 comes, don\u2019t forget my boy here please vote for DPP because this is the only party which has brought development in all the four cities and particularly township,\u201d explained Mutharika.<\/p>\n
From Bangwe Township, Mutharika went to inspect the Chimwankhunda, Chilobwe road project where he also asked the people of Chilobwe Township to keep him in power if they want development projects to continue in the townships.<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you for giving us Allan Ngumuya a DPP Member of Parliament. Together we are going to bring development in the country and in different townships. I have grown up in Blantyre and I take it as my home. So I want to bring development to this city, these bypass roads we are initiating will help to minimise traffic and only the DPP has done such kind of a development. So come 2019 continue to support the DPP,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Among other things said during the tour, Mutharika called on Malawians to stop taking the law into their own hands when they suspect anyone of committing a crime especially those involved in the killing and abduction of albinos.<\/p>\n
