TNM has become the first mobile operator in the country to launch a new internet service based on 4G long term evolution (LTE) promising fast and reliable online experience for its customers.<\/p>\n
LTE is a network solution with transmission speeds of up to 100 megabytes per second for downloads and 50 megabytes per second for uploads. The 4G LTE technology is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data.<\/p>\n
The launch comes after successful trials during which time the service was made available to selected TNM customers in Lilongwe and Blantyre.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the launch of the service in Lilongwe, TNM Chief Executive Officer, Douglas Stevenson, said the new network platform supports faster and reliable WIFI internet, video conferencing and streaming and customer call centres for corporations, government and other medium enterprises.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are promising internet that works. With this new network platform, TNM has radically improved user experience with its capacity to enhance access to the most advanced form of communications whilst substantially reducing the cost of operations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said the 4GLTE network, which underwent successful trials towards the end of 2015, is now available in the four major cities of Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Zomba. TNM hopes to expand the network to the rest of the country by December.<\/p>\n
Stevenson said that the TNM\u2019s 4G LTE network now makes it possible for customers on the network to experience reliable and fast internet, download movies and live TV without buffering, communicate via HD voice or uninterrupted HD video calling<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
