{"id":26882,"date":"2016-06-27T10:10:27","date_gmt":"2016-06-27T08:10:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=26882"},"modified":"2016-06-27T10:10:27","modified_gmt":"2016-06-27T08:10:27","slug":"agide-chalamanda-ready-for-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/06\/27\/agide-chalamanda-ready-for-usa\/","title":{"rendered":"AGide Chalamanda ready for USA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran musician Giddes Chalamanda popularly known as AGide showed his energy once again on a cold Friday night when he excited the not-so-huge audience with his performance during the Coming to America farewell show held at Robins Park in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>The old-timer gave out his all, he sang and danced, dishing out among others his renowned songs <em>Che Meli <\/em>and <em>Liny <\/em>as well as <em>Buffalo Soldier <\/em>\u2013 a track in which he talks about his desire to see America if he had much money.<\/p>\n<p>People took time to splash some money to Giddes, who was in a black suit and matching black shoes during his performance. He also has cut his hair shot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so thankful to people for the support and all I can say is I am ready for America,\u201d said Giddes, who received his air tickets from business guru Mike Chilewe on the night.<\/p>\n<p>There was also a moment when Edgar ndi Davis performed the song <em>Chalamanda<\/em>, which highlights the journey Giddes Chalamanda has travelled and that there have been musicians who have come and gone and yet the legendary musician is still singing.<\/p>\n<p>The night opened with performances from acoustic musician Malala and then up and coming Lilongwe- female singer Martha before Giddes took over the stage amidst huge cheers from the audience.<\/p>\n<p>After Giddes\u2019 performance came Edgar ndi Davis then Dan Lu with reggae group Black Missionaries closing the chapter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a fantastic night, we would have loved to have a bigger audience but we still had a good audience and through our performances we showed a glimpse of what we will do in USA,\u201d said Njobvu.<\/p>\n<p>He said referring to Giddes\u2019 USA trip that it was possible for one to realise their dreams.<\/p>\n<p>Njobvu said they are expected to leave the country on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Kachere said it was exciting that Giddes would be visiting America and said they were looking forward to the best trip.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst in USA, Giddes is also expected to be hosted by the Library of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Several people attended the show which spilled over to the early hours of Saturday and they included Mayor of the City of Blantyre Noel Chalamanda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Veteran musician Giddes Chalamanda popularly known as AGide showed his energy once again on a cold Friday night when he excited the not-so-huge audience with his performance during the Coming to America farewell show held at Robins Park in Blantyre.
