The piece was also staged again on Friday.

This farce Out of Order is set one evening in 1978 at the four star Westminster Hotel London, near the House of Commons.

Richard Willey, a Labour Junior Minister played by Kevin Troughton, plans to spend the night with Jane Worthington (Jacinta Leathart), one of the opposition’s junior secretaries. So the seeds are sown (or in Richard’s case, not).

Things start to go disastrously wrong early on when expecting only to handle Jane’s body, Richard or Dickie as he likes to be called discovers the ‘body’ of a man trapped in the suite’s unreliable sash window.

Richard later summons his trusty Parliamentary private secretary, George Pigden played by David Grimes, to sort things out.

The hotel boasts the typical assortment of stereotypical farce characters, such as a pompous interfering hotel manager, a sly old hotel waiter waiting for every chance to earn hush money, and a maid of suspect Mediterranean origin.

So many things happen in an attempt to move, hide, and disguise the body which sees Richard sinking further and further into troubled waters and so he keeps on creating one lie after the other.

Further complications arise when Ronie, the jealous husband of Jane, arrives and two more characters are introduced to confuse matters even more.

The body’s identity is revealed and with the late arrival of Nurse Foster, who has been nursing George’s invalid mother, things really come to a climax or not in Richard’s case.

The cast did its best on stage and this was even decorated with the props and set which some dramatists compromise.

The group also did its best on the costume which even showed that they took their time and prepared well before putting the piece on the table for the audience to sample.

“We want to provide entertainment which is fun to do and show. It’s good to show something different and diverse and we hope to do more as this is just the beginning and the production is not that serious,” said Marjan Sonke, who directed the play.

Marjan, who studied Arts, Culture and Media, majoring in theatre and education at the University of Groningen, Netherlands said there was a lot of work they put into the piece but admitted that they still could have done better.

“It’s a comedy so it was not that serious as I said and we hope to do something serious next. In this comedy we followed the script and did not interpret it but we just followed the story,” said Marjan, a daughter to former minister Jaap Sonke.

Kevin, who is the main character playing Richard said everything went on very well on the night.

“There were always going to be one or two mistakes but all went on well. We had a good audience tonight and being a comedy there was a lot of laughter. Actually the Friday show is sold out. We want to do more and if there are people out there interested in theatre then they are welcome to join us,” said Kevin, who is a drama teacher at St Andrews High School.

He said they staged the piece just to rekindle memories of the past in the United Kingdom looking at what people used to dress in those days.

Sonke was over the moon with the piece especially that it was directed by his daughter.

“I enjoyed the play especially that it was directed by my daughter. The play was amazing and the actors put in all their efforts. Art is life and it is an expression of life so we need to come out and show our skills and that is what we saw tonight,” he said.

Other actors starring in the play are Colin Campbell, Karen Jewkes, Charyl Garson, Gabriella Wetten, Axel Fielvard and Maureen Stewart.

Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) Theatre Section in conjunction with Loadmaster on Thursday showed their theatrical prowess staging an adult comedy titled Out of Order.
