The Library of Congress in the United States of America is set to host veteran musician Giddes Chalamanda.<\/p>\n

The Che Meli, <\/em>hit maker is set to visit the United States of America alongside Edgar ndi Davis and Patience Namadingo.<\/p>\n A member of Edgar ndi Davis Band, Davis Njobvu confirmed the development yesterday but was quick to say that the issue was not yet ripe.<\/p>\n \u201cThe issue is not yet ripe for now but there is that programme that the Library of Congress might host Giddes Chalamanda. This is a historical trip for Giddes because he has never seen America,\u201d said Njobvu.<\/p>\n In his song Buffalo Soldier<\/em>, which Giddes claims reggae maestro Bob Marley stole from him, the old-timer sings that \u201cif he had much money he would go and see America.\u201d<\/p>\n Having performed for years, Njobvu said it was only good that Giddes sees the country of his dream.<\/p>\n \u201cGiddes deserves the best. We just want to thank people for the support and we hope they will continue because he needs something for the way as USA is a long trip,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Njobvu said on Monday that they were yet to finalise the visas for the other members but was optimistic all would be well.<\/p>\n He further said that they were expected to leave for the United States of America on June 27.<\/p>\n Giddes and Edgar ndi Davis last Friday performed at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe in a Coming to America farewell show.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a good show, people came in large numbers to support us and others made pledges. We have other farewell shows before the trip,\u201d said Njobvu.<\/p>\n The other Coming to America farewell show is on Friday at Robins Park in Blantyre. The show will feature among others Dan Lu, Namadingo, Giddes, Edgar ndi Davis and reggae group Black Missionaries.<\/p>\n Giddes and Edgar ndi Davis Band will also perform at Premier Lodge in Blantyre on Sunday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Library of Congress in the United States of America is set to host veteran musician Giddes Chalamanda.
