{"id":26466,"date":"2016-06-20T10:37:14","date_gmt":"2016-06-20T08:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=26466"},"modified":"2016-06-20T10:37:14","modified_gmt":"2016-06-20T08:37:14","slug":"pastor-nkhoma-revisits-hymn-songs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/06\/20\/pastor-nkhoma-revisits-hymn-songs\/","title":{"rendered":"Pastor Nkhoma revisits hymn songs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a move that is aimed at preserving some of the well known hymn songs, Blantyre-based Pastor Clement Nkhoma has released an album titled <em>Nyimbo Za Chitsitsimutso<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It seems pastors are leaving no stone unturned in preaching the word of God with others joining in singing as well.<\/p>\n<p>Nkhoma said on Saturday that he has been singing in the past years but he never thought of working on an album.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow that I am a pastor I thought I should utilise my singing talent to preach the word of God but also at the same time I wanted to help preserve some of the hymn songs, hence producing them as they are. I have not tampered with the songs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Recorded at SK Studio in Bangwe by Dingani Chapomba, the 10-track album features songs such as <em>Thanthwe Long\u2019ambikatu, Ndaima Nji, Yenda Iwe Yenda, Pokhala Mtendere, Bwenzi Lathu ndiye Yesu, Chitsime ndi Chokoma <\/em>and <em>Kulibe Bwenzi Longa Yesu. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are the songs which I love singing when I am preaching. They are inspirational songs, they are songs that bring you closer to God and refresh you so I had to work on them. They are not my compositions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Nkhoma said he was happy that the songs have received an overwhelming response from people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me admit that I am not a good singer but I love singing. So I want to make sure that I sing all hymn songs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Listening to the songs in the album, Pastor Nkhoma has potential but he needs to polish up his voice.<\/p>\n<p>With other artists also playing some of the songs which they have done in their own styles, Pastor Nkhoma insisted that he did not want to colour the songs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would have decorated the songs but I did not, I want them to sound the way people know them and that is how I sing when I am preaching,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Pastor Nkhoma has his church known as Powerhouse International which he founded in UK in 2006 before opening a branch in South Africa in 2013 and Blantyre Teachers College last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe album is on the market.
