Retired SOS Children\u2019s Villages Malawi board chairperson, Esnath Kalyati, has been nominated as one of this year\u2019s recipients of the prestigious Badge of Honour in gold award presented by the SOS Children\u2019s Villages International.<\/p>\n
According to a press statement from SOS Malawi, Kalyati will receive the award along with other selected nominees from other countries at a ceremony to be held on the sidelines of the SOS General Assembly in Innsbruck, Austria.<\/p>\n
In a statement announcing the 2016 nominees, President of SOS International Siddhartha Kaul said Kalyati has been recognised for her consistent commitment and contribution in driving forward the work of SOS Children\u2019s Villages as an organisation.<\/p>\n
\u201cKalyati has passionately contributed a lot to the development and growth of SOS Children\u2019s Villages in Malawi. She served as board member and chairperson at SOS Children\u2019s Villages Malawi since its inception in late 1980s until her retirement in March this year. She dedicated herself to helping disadvantaged children and the work of SOS Children\u2019s Villages in Malawi, Kaul said.<\/p>\n
National Director of SOS Children\u2019s Villages Malawi, Smart Namagonya, commended Kalyati\u2019s contribution to the organisation and for her great achievement.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe has remained true to our cause of helping children build strong, resilient, long-term relationships with their siblings, families and community for the past 20 years. It is a great recognition to her personally and the entire SOS family in Malawi,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
A social scientist, gender specialist and an early childhood development expert, Kalyati is a skilled adviser, trainer and educator in the areas of gender and related social development issues.<\/p>\n
