{"id":26293,"date":"2016-06-16T10:27:47","date_gmt":"2016-06-16T08:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=26293"},"modified":"2016-06-16T10:27:47","modified_gmt":"2016-06-16T08:27:47","slug":"tnm-partners-donate-k24m-to-flood-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/06\/16\/tnm-partners-donate-k24m-to-flood-victims\/","title":{"rendered":"TNM, partners donate K24m to flood victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>T<\/strong>NM alongside its partners Huawei and Old Mutual has donated K24 million to Red Cross Society of Malawi to assist people that were affected by floods in the northern part of the country.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third time TNM has responded towards the devastating floods in the region.<\/p>\n<p>TNM donated K15 million, Huawei K7 million while Old Mutual contributed K2 million.<\/p>\n<p>TNM Chief Commercial Officer, Daniel Makata, said it is not the duty of the government alone to provide assistance to those affected by the floods disaster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe felt as companies who work together, we should come up with something to help our friends in the northern region. TNM thanks both Huawei and Old Mutual for their generosity and coming to the rescue. This is the beauty of partnership,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Huawei Country Director, Wan Wen, said the company has been in the country for some time and felt obliged to support those affected by the disaster.<\/p>\n<p>Wen said Huawei commits its support to the country\u2019s socio-economic development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is part of our corporate social responsibility and we pledge to continue supporting Malawians in different ways,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Red Cross president Levison Changole said TNM is a true partner who is always there in times of need and lives to its promises.<\/p>\n<p>Changole said TNM has led by example and the corporate world should emulate this example.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRed Cross is auxiliary to the government in the provision of humanitarian services.
