{"id":26264,"date":"2016-06-16T09:30:43","date_gmt":"2016-06-16T07:30:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=26264"},"modified":"2016-06-16T09:30:43","modified_gmt":"2016-06-16T07:30:43","slug":"ruths-fate-yet-to-be-known","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/06\/16\/ruths-fate-yet-to-be-known\/","title":{"rendered":"Ruth\u2019s fate yet to be known"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The fate of the country\u2019s representative Ruth Kulaisi Chikoleka in the Airtel Trace Music Star Pan African grand finale is yet to be known.<\/p>\n<p>The grand finale of the competition was held on June 11 at Ultima Studio in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Trace Country Representative Annie Chisala said yesterday that the results will be known next month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe results should be revealed in the following month. I am not sure of the exact dates as it needs to be aired on Trace,\u201d said Chisala.<\/p>\n<p>The results of the competition are withheld until after the event has been aired on Trace.<\/p>\n<p>Ruth could not be reached on her phone yesterday but Chisala said she was still in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Having been represented by singer and keyboardist Sam Mjura Mkandawire in Season I, who pocketed K14 million on the local front and came sixth at the Pan African contest, Ruth took the mantle this time around.<\/p>\n<p>Ruth called for votes from people before departure and further indicated that she had prepared well and that she was looking at nothing but the best.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVotes will also count during the Pan African contest so I will do my part and Malawians have also got to do their part otherwise as I said I am ready,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Ruth triumphed during the local contest held in Lilongwe last month and as a winner she pocketed K10 million.<\/p>\n<p>During the grand finale last Saturday, the singer battled it out with contestants from Niger, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Zambia.<\/p>\n<p>The grand finale last year was held in Kenya and was won by Tanzania\u2019s Andrew Nalimi, who went on to be mentored by US artist Akon.<\/p>\n<p>This year the official mentor is US singer-songwriter Keri Hilson.<\/p>\n<p>The grand prize comprises a mentorship programme with Hilson in Atlanta, USA.<\/p>\n<p>The winner will not only star in their own music video alongside Hilson but he or she will get an opportunity to record a duet with the <em>Knock You Down <\/em>songstress, as well as receive a signed contract with a major music label and worldwide media exposure through various Trace platforms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The fate of the country\u2019s representative Ruth Kulaisi Chikoleka in the Airtel Trace Music Star Pan African grand finale is yet to be known.
