{"id":26079,"date":"2016-06-13T11:33:43","date_gmt":"2016-06-13T09:33:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=26079"},"modified":"2016-06-13T11:33:43","modified_gmt":"2016-06-13T09:33:43","slug":"9-mozambicans-in-for-illegal-entry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/06\/13\/9-mozambicans-in-for-illegal-entry\/","title":{"rendered":"9 Mozambicans in for illegal entry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police in Nkhata Bay have arrested nine Mozambicans for illegal entry into Malawi.<\/p>\n<p>During interrogation, the nine alleged they came to Malawi to work as fishermen but could not produce any valid travelling documents.<\/p>\n<p>Nkhata Bay Police spokesperson, Ignatius Esau, said on Saturday, the law enforcers stormed Kang\u2019oma Village in the area of traditional Authority Mankhambire following a tip off from well-wishing Malawians who had discovered the strangers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter getting the information our team from the Criminal Investigation Department, wasted no time but to take up the matter and the nine were arrested,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Esau, two Malawians, Jaja Kamanga aged 65 years and Andrew Kanyenda aged 43 years from Kang\u2019oma and Ngani Villages in the same district have also been nabbed on suspicion that they aided the illegal entry of the foreigners.<\/p>\n<p>He said the foreigners who might have used uncharted routes to enter the country are currently in police custody waiting to appear in court shortly to answer a charge of illegal entry which is contrary to Section 21 of the Immigration Act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are all men in the age bracket of 19 to 30 years,\u201d Esau added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police in Nkhata Bay have arrested nine Mozambicans for illegal entry into Malawi.
