Government has challenged final year students from the Faculty of Built Environment at the Malawi Polytechnic to go out there and improve the quality of buildings and land management in the country.<\/p>\n
Lands Minister Atupele Muluzi was speaking in Blantyre on Friday during a symposium the students, comprising physical planners, land economists, quantity and land surveyors as well as architects, organised to interact with prospective employers and other stakeholders in the industry.<\/p>\n
Muluzi said a good built environment is one which is properly planned, with good designs matching with the time and also the one with quality buildings, good road network, electricity, water and trees.<\/p>\n
He said with a good crop of professionals, Malawi can fully achieve a vibrant and sustainable built environment, which is very crucial in developing the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cI, therefore, stand here to challenge you all that there is no one who can bring about the best built environment in this country other than the experts out there and the students that are in this room who are about to join the profession.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Malawi nation has hope in you to help improve way of life, particularly in the fields of physical planning, land surveying, quantity surveying, project management and the general built environment. We must be proud to serve in this professional capacity with due diligence,\u201d said Muluzi during the symposium held under the theme \u2018Built Environment; Towards Sustainable Development\u2019.<\/p>\n
