Southern Region Netball League has increased registration fees from K25,000 to K30,000 for teams wishing to participate in Rainbow Paints Netball League set to throw-off on July 2.<\/p>\n
This follows a meeting which the league\u2019s executive held with teams\u2019 representatives at Blantyre Youth Centre on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The league\u2019s General Secretary, Annie Hanjahanja, said the increase was reasonable considering the prevailing economic situation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is not a secret that as a nation we are facing financial problems. As a league, we haven\u2019t been spared either. We have reasonably increased the registration fee from K25,000 to K30,000 because we want to issue modern identity cards,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Hanjahanja said, so far, nine teams, including Young Professionals, have confirmed their participation in the league.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust like in the previous season, we will register 10 teams only,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Currently, Tigresses are the defending champions.<\/p>\n
Despite tying on points with Kukoma Diamonds, Tigresses snatched the title from their rivals owing to their superior baskets difference.<\/p>\n
Rainbow Paints came to the rescue of the league when it unveiled K4 million worth sponsorship after SRNL lost sponsorship from OG Issa Group of Companies.<\/p>\n
