Actress Flora Suya had no plans to screen her movie My Mother\u2019s Story <\/em>anytime soon in Blantyre having premiered it recently in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n

But some of her fans in the commercial city have been pressing her to screen the movie in Blantyre.<\/p>\n

And bowing to that pressure, she has decided to screen the movie at M Theatre formerly Cine Cinema at Chichiri Shopping Mall in Blantyre Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t want to screen the movie in Blantyre anytime soon, for me the premiere in Lilongwe was enough and then the target was that other areas would watch the movie through the DVDs. But people in Blantyre feel I have sidelined them so I had to do it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said all was set for the screening of the movie and that she was looking forward to the best once again as it was during the premiere.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course the capacity at M Theatre is not that big so it will not accommodate all the people. I never knew the movie would receive such an overwhelming response,\u201d said Suya.<\/p>\n

She also said that the DVD for the movie is now selling following its launch but was quick to say that she has not yet found distributors in other places.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to make sure that people buy original DVDs so I want to identify the right distributors. It may take time but people should bear with me. At the moment I am selling it alone,\u201d said Suya.<\/p>\n

She said having premiered My Mother\u2019s Story; <\/em>she is determined to give people more quality productions.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I said this is the beginning of more things to come, I do not want to such much but people should just watch the space. As women we also have potential to excel in film making, Villant Ndasowa started it all followed by others Joyce Mhango Chavula, Chimwemwe Mkwezalamba and now me and I know there are others coming as well,\u201d said the actress.<\/p>\n

Her exploits in the two movies earned her an opportunity to star in another movie Chenda in Zambia. <\/em><\/p>\n

But now with her own movie, she has shown that she is not only an actress but she also can produce her own productions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wrote My Mother\u2019s Story on my own inspired by what film makers were doing in Zambia producing low budget movies and I said why can\u2019t I also do it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Suya called on women, who have the potential to create productions not to look down upon themselves but come out and show their works.<\/p>\n

My Mother\u2019s Story <\/em>is a one hour and 30 minutes movie which was shot in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
