The Technical Entrepreneurial Vocational Education and Training Authority (Teveta) says it has managed to facilitate business loans worth K16 million for students who successfully completed their training with the authority.<\/p>\n
And according to Teveta Regional Service Centre Manager for the north, Conceptor Kachoka, the loan facility, obtained through OIBM, has helped the alumni to set up various business ventures, creating job opportunities for many people in the northern region.<\/p>\n
\u201cTevet Planning and Research Department works with OIBM officials in conducting impact assessments for the loans. We make sure that we follow up on those who access loans so that they repay,\u201d said Kachoka.<\/p>\n
Kachoka was speaking when the Authority presented certificates of excellence to 155 students who graduated from various institutions offering technical and entrepreneurial training in the northern region.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost of those graduating today concluded their training some two months ago and have already been absorbed into various industries,\u201d said Kachoka.<\/p>\n
Chairperson of Informal Training Colleges in the north, Ruda Khonje lamented an increase in prices for raw materials used in the informal sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cTechnical training is more practical that theory and learners need to practice even more but unfortunately the cost of materials keep going up affecting institutional intakes,\u201d said Khonje.<\/p>\n
