{"id":25751,"date":"2016-06-08T12:02:27","date_gmt":"2016-06-08T10:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=25751"},"modified":"2016-06-08T12:02:27","modified_gmt":"2016-06-08T10:02:27","slug":"flora-suya-set-to-screen-movie-in-blantyre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/06\/08\/flora-suya-set-to-screen-movie-in-blantyre\/","title":{"rendered":"Flora Suya set to screen movie in Blantyre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After premiering her movie <em>My Mother\u2019s Story <\/em>in Lilongwe recently where she also launched its DVD, actress Flora Suya has decided to screen the film in Blantyre as well.<\/p>\n<p>The renowned actress said yesterday that she has decided to screen the movie in Blantyre following public demand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the screening in Lilongwe people have been asking me as to when I was to screen the movie in Blantyre and so having sat down with my friends I decided to do it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><em>My Mother\u2019s Story <\/em>will screen this Saturday at M Theatre formerly Cine Cinema at Chichiri Shopping Mall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a chance for people in Blantyre to watch the movie and also get hold of a DVD which I am currently selling alone,\u201d said Suya.<\/p>\n<p>The renowned actress, who has starred in award winning movies <em>The Last Fishing Boat and Seasons of a Life <\/em>by Shemu Joyah said since the movie was premiered in Lilongwe, she has received overwhelming response.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never thought I would receive an overwhelming response and this has motivated me to do more. At the moment I should also tell you that I am working on another movie <em>Delayed Destiny <\/em>and I am now doing post production and will start shooting on June 15,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Suya added that she has already planned everything for this movie which she expects to premiere in December.<\/p>\n<p>She also said that women are making headway in movie making and that they have shown they have potential.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVillant Ndasowa started it all and then Chimwemwe Mkwezalamba, Joyce Mhango Chavula have produced their movies and now me, this is something great,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>While some quarters have said the movie does not end well and has some gaps, others have heaped praise on Suya for the movie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCriticism is welcome but so far I am happy with the feedback I have got. Some people have asked for part 2 but there is no part 2. This is how I planned the movie,\u201d said the actress.<\/p>\n<p>Suya, who also starred in a Zambian movie <em>Chenda<\/em>, maintained that the one hour and 30 minutes movie which was shot in Lilongwe, was written by her and that she directed it together with Bester Kauwa.<\/p>\n<p>Suya also features in the movie.<\/p>\n<p>The actress spent close to K2.5 million to produce the movie starting from pre-production, shooting and editing.<\/p>\n<p>The movie tells the story of a young woman who works as a housemaid.<\/p>\n<p>She is impregnated by a gardener, and later abandoned.<\/p>\n<p>And whilst pregnant she meets another man who falls for her and life changes but tragedy later strikes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a lot in the movie but one main lesson in there is that don\u2019t judge people until you know their whole story,\u201d said Suya.<\/p>\n<p>Other actors starring in the film whose sound track was done by gospel singer Gloria Manong\u2019a are Tapiwa Gwaza, Miriam Mwazimva, comedian Diana Satha, Jeremiah Mwaungulu and <em>Times Television <\/em>presenter cum musician Annie Matumbi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After premiering her movie My Mother\u2019s Story in Lilongwe recently where she also launched its DVD, actress Flora Suya has decided to screen the film in Blantyre as well.
