Cracks have emerged in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the Northern Region with the party\u2019s Secretary General in the region,Kenneth Sanga ,and Sports and Culture Minister Grace Chiumia not seeing each other eye to eye.<\/p>\n
The divisions have come to the fore following revelations that the party abused public resources when it used a government vehicle to ferry followers to Chitipa where President Peter Mutharika conducted a rally.<\/p>\n
In an interview, Chiumia conceded that she is not in good books with Sanga following who she said accuses her of being involved in reinstating 35 cadets that the party fired.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want to speak much but the truth of the matter is that I\u2019m not in good terms with Sanga, He has never visited my constituency yet he knows that there are DPP supporters who love our president. I believe that is why they came to the media asking my explanation,\u201d added Chiumia.<\/p>\n
In retaliation, Sanga accused Chiumia of ferrying supporters to the Chitipa rally using taxpayer\u2019s money.<\/p>\n
Sanga at the weekend implicated Minister of Sports and Culture Grace Chiumia as the one behind whole abuse disclosing she used the vehicle to carry a party affiliated musical grouping to the rally.<\/p>\n
Sanga conceded that a government vehicle also carried party supporters to the rally.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has come to my attention that the government vehicle carried the party supporters. However, the party did not ask for any government vehicles to the rally but it was Obama [Grace Chiumia] who did,\u201d said Sanga adding that only Chiumia was in a position to explain where she got the government vehicle.<\/p>\n
Chiumia, in an interview also conceded ferrying supporters to Chit ipa disclosing that they were from her constituency which is within the Chikangawa Forest.<\/p>\n
The vehicle, she said belongs to Lusangazi Forest under Viphya Plantations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a football team which I support and they were going to the football match at Kameme and few DPP members jumped into the vehicle. It is not only Lusangazi officials who borrows me their vehicles but even Kawalazi Tea Estate and Raiply Malawi,\u201d argued Chiumia saying she bought fuel for the vehicle and paid pay allowances for the drivers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
