New Chinese Ambassador to Malawi Wang Shi\u2013Ting conducted his first Blantyre tour yesterday to appreciate the efforts and the success behind the country\u2019s oldest and outstanding media company, Times Group.<\/p>\n
After the tour, Wang said he was impressed with the Times Group and promised to facilitate partnerships between Times Group and the Chinese News Agency for the promotion of communication in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is my first visit to a media company in Blantyre and I felt obliged to visit Times Group because it is the biggest media house in Malawi. I am impressed with the expertise here and the capacity of this media house. For the betterment of the Malawians, we will strike a partnership for the Chinese News Agency to be sharing news resources with Times Group,\u201d said Wang.<\/p>\n
He announced that the People\u2019s Republic of China will help promote the operation of the media in the country by providing training programmes to Malawian journalists in China.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe media plays a vital role in the communication between the two countries and as such they need to be empowered and supported to execute that role responsibly. This will also help in the promotion of infrastructure developments which the People\u2019s Republic of China is undertaking in Malawi,\u201d said Wang<\/p>\n
Wang has replaced Zhang Qingyang as the Chinese Ambassador to Malawi and has been in the country for two months.<\/p>\n
