Malawi national football team seasoned midfielder, Joseph Kamwendo, has pleaded with Football Association of Malawi (Fam) to honour players who hit the 100-cap mark for the Flames.<\/p>\n
Kamwendo, who has 102 caps, was commenting on the Flames new blood that will travel to face Zimbabwe\u2019s Warriors in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel sorry to see players who have been with the national team for a long time being dumped and not been recognised,\u201d said the former Orlando Pirates Wednesday.<\/p>\n

When players are retiring, it is vital to organise a testimonial match.\u201d<\/p>\n Fam does not have records of most capped players, but United Kingdom-based football researcher, Mario Antoine, established that Young Chimodzi is the most capped with 154 games. Chimodzi is also Malawi national football team\u2019s highest scoring defender with 12 goals, trailed by Jack Chamangwana\u2019s 10.<\/p>\n Kinnah Phiri is Malawi\u2019s all-time top scorer with 67 goals in 110 games followed by Lawrence Waya\u2019s 25 in 125 matches.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Confederation of Africa Football (Caf) has rescheduled the Flames fixture against Zimbabwe from Saturday at Rufalo Stadium.<\/p>\n Malawi has two points from five games and anchor the group which Zimbabwe leads on eight points. The group winne will qualify for 2017 Gabon Afcon finals.
