{"id":25422,"date":"2016-06-01T12:29:06","date_gmt":"2016-06-01T10:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=25422"},"modified":"2016-06-01T12:29:06","modified_gmt":"2016-06-01T10:29:06","slug":"central-high-hosts-hockey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/06\/01\/central-high-hosts-hockey\/","title":{"rendered":"Central High hosts hockey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Central High School of Blantyre will host an invitational hockey tournament involving 10 teams on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The institution\u2019s Sports Director, Geoffrey Biya, said the school would pump in K300,000 into the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome hockey officials presented us with a proposal and we felt it that was in line with our mission. We want to be part of every sporting activity to help nurture young players to realise their potential in sports,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Biya said Central High was targeting minority sporting codes because they hardly receive support from the corporate world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur headmaster, Nishant Mishra, is supportive when it comes to sports. This is why we are hosting different sporting activities. It is not a lie that minority sport codes hardly receive support from the corporate world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Biya, who is also National Development Coordinator for Hockey Association of Malawi (Ham), said they were excited to stage the tournament after the national hockey body recently hosted the Monolux Youth League.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the teams expected to compete are Kanjedza, St Kizito, Saints, Zingwangwa, St Patricks, Army Secondary and Scorpions.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Central High School also bankrolled a handball tournament which enabled Malawi Handball Association (Maha) to scout for potential junior national team players.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Central High School of Blantyre will host an invitational hockey tournament involving 10 teams on Saturday.
